Employment Initiative Program (EIP)
Powered by the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP), supported by ESGR

In the ten years since September 11th, Guard and Reserve service members have played a tremendous role in fighting terrorism and keeping our country secure, while employers have simultaneously provided sustained support for their military service. In spite of strong employer support, the economic downturn brought unprecedented levels of unemployment and underemployment among members of the Reserve Components (RC). Launched in January 2011, the Employment Initiative Program’s (EIP’s) goal is to improve employment opportunities for transitioning service members while enabling America’s employers to tap into the pool of talented men and women resident in the Guard and Reserve.
EIP focuses on connecting employers with the talented pool of service members and spouses, with the intent of facilitating meaningful employment opportunities. EIP is a collaborative effort with the Guard and Reserve to create efficiencies, enhance the employment process and serve as an effective resource for service members and employers.
Ø EIP is high-tech:
o Hero2Hired (H2H), a YRRP program, is a comprehensive employment program with a powerful job search site and online community that is 100% free for Veterans, service members, and employers. H2H consolidates DoD employment initiatives into one enhanced program for RC members, via the powerful H2H.jobs platform.
o H2H provides free, direct access to qualified candidates who already have background checks and security clearances, while reducing recruiting and hiring costs for employers.

Ø EIP is high touch:
o The high-touch approach comes through a series of employment related events conducted in conjunction with DoD Yellow Ribbon Events throughout the Nation as well as tailored, state-specific job events hosted by ESGR in all 50 States, Guam-CNMI, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia. ESGR volunteers nationwide have hosted employment assistance workshops, job fairs, employment summits, and many other local community programs. To learn more about ESGR employment events in your area, contact your state representative at www.ESGR.mil/StateContacts.
ESGR joined with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes program in executing 100 mega-hiring fairs around the country in 2011, with many more to come in 2012. For more information, visit
